true that.

"Mom, are there going to be dinosaurs at the petting zoo?"

"No, Ava."

"Oh yeah, I remember now. They're dead."

Peace! You will have no peace.

Recently I read The Good Earth which follows the life of a Chinese farmer. Toward the end of book, the old farmer just wanted peace. Peace with his family, time to relax, and a quiet existence. When I was reading it, I thought enough with the peace already. We get it.

Today I really get it. It is conference weekend and as I battle my children for peace so I can hear the prophet, all I want to scream is: can I get a little peace? 2 hours. Is that too much to ask. We passed out conference activity packets to the kids at church but my girls blew through their packets during the first Saturday session. Only one more session. I can do this. I can do this.

elevator to coolness

I need one today. I'm feeling very mediocre at the moment and it frustrates me to no end.

I got you. I got you.

This weekend Aaron had his mega event: Moto of Nations. (Aaron was in charge of a huge portion of this. He got man-hugs from his bosses. Man-hugs are a good indicator of how much they like him.) I snuck away to meet him and enjoy the VIP area. I'm not really into Motor cross but I have respect for the guys that do it. Crazy. My heart always goes out to the guy who gets lapped. What's crazier to me is the price for these events. 150$ a head...to sit in the hot sun on the grass (or dirt) getting coated in a layer of filth. Sure the races are cool but 150! I can spend 150 on a lot of things that aren't sweaty or dirty.

wallet sidebar: it's missing. I'm 95% sure one of the kids took it. They all have conflicting stories that involve some guilt but no one will confess. And no one will retrieve it for me. So I get to search the house with a comb tomorrow. Wish me luck.

sister, so, you have a sister

My sister Amber is the luckiest person I know. She is winning stuff like crazy right now. I need a trip outta here. I need some of her mojo today. But I'm married to Aaron who blocks all luck from our home. Tears. smooches.

8a: homework & guitar practice.
9a: My turn to teach Joy School.
11:45 a: Send joy kids home.
12p - 2p: Presidency meeting (program & next year's teacher roster)
2:15p: I finally take a shower.
3:30p: Pick up kids from school.
4p: guitar lessons & kid herding (the best, Jerry, the best).
5p: dance for lore.
5:15p: shove food into the other 3.
5:45p: dance for bryn.
6p: grocery store.
6:45p: pick up dancers.

Shew. Of course, the rest of the week is golden. So maybe not so bad, right? Ava has her dance class tomorrow. Her first. She's so excited.
